Merrick
”Comfort for the Soul”
Our mission statement is “Comfort for the Soul,” and we do that by offering you simple, nutritious and healthy products. You want to be a good pet guardian and our products give you comfort to know that you are giving your pet a healthy meal and treat. We feel the same way because we are pet guardians just like you. In fact, we don’t have just dogs and cats, we currently have llamas, ducks, chickens, emus, zonkeys (that’s right a cross between a donkey and a zebra), goats, koi and longhorns. When my father started our treat company, he put the following scripture from the Bible on our boxes, and we still display this Proverb today; “A good man is concerned for the welfare of his animals.” I don’t know many people who could argue with that, and we feel the same way. Knowing we are committed to this verse is “Comfort for the Soul”.
Grammy's Pot Pie
The smell of Grammy’s house and her famous chicken pot pie is an unforgettable comfort, plus she doesn’t care if you watch Nick at Night all day. Our family loves dogs, and we’ve been sharing this gift with dogs around the world for a little while now and the votes are in – Grammy For President. She’s our number one seller because the woman can flat out cook, not to mention she took first prize in needle pointing at our local fair. This meal is sure to make your dog beg to move to Grammy’s, even if they have to eat their vegetables and massage her corns! Wash this dish down with some fresh peanut butter cookies and a cold pint of milk (not Skim but old school Vitamin D). Grammy sends her best!

Puppy Plate
It’s the first lick, the wobbly crawl and the cut on your finger from putting it in their mouth when you shouldn’t have. These soft, cuddly friends come into our lives, and we grow with them. They become our friends long before they are housebroken, stop tearing things up and crying in the middle of the night. So we cooked up a special dish with lots of TLC that we think transitions them nicely from their momma’s milk and welcomes them to earth but still with a firm handshake. At Merrick we call it Puppyhood and without Merrick in their life, well it’s pretty much boredom. So skip the national grocery brands and stop sheltering them because they’re gonna grow up sooner or later and find Merrick on their own so you might as well have the “talk” now.
Campfire Trout Feast
A family camping trip is a rite of passage for some and a funny set of memories for many more. Bringing the family Chihuahua along for companionship is probably a better idea than using him for protection, even if he’s a long hair. However, no matter the size of the fight in the dog, a fresh fillet of grilled trout prepared camp side is the essence of an outdoor culinary experience that all canines should enjoy. This dish offers an alternative for the days your furry fellow is stuck inside salivating over the family goldfish in his urban suite. The Merrick’s would like to encourage you and your dog to grab a bag of marshmallows, a stack of carob bars and a box of graham crackers and go sing Kumbaya around the campfire.

Cowboy Cookout
It’s time to celebrate. Your family and dogs have gathered around the table for one of your world famous cookouts (minus the burnt wieners and too yellow potato salad). Your prized beef and favorite side dishes are ready to be feasted upon. In Texas, we love beef as much as Americans love apple pie. So saddle up, put your bib, chaps on (whatever works for you), some extra deodorant because this dish is gonna make your dog sweat and let’s pop some fireworks. By the way who cares if it’s in the middle of winter (however, this would not be a good idea if your city has an ordinance against them. If so, maybe you can go out to Cousin Earl’s in the country or heck, move to flippin’ Texas) Muchos Gracias from the Merrick’s.
Wilderness Blend
The wilderness - it’s the call of the wild, the return to simplicity and oh by the way, stuff that tastes pretty darn good. These bold flavors come together and provide an X-rated excursion for your canine friend. So whether your idea of backpacking in the outdoors is your commute to work in your urban jungle or trekking the Lewis and Clark trail, this dish does not discriminate. Now, you better pack a night stick, a fresh glow stick and some freeze dried ice cream for this trip because its basically gonna send you to the moon. So ditch the skinny half caff latte and let’s go full throttle and howl at the moon like you want to get arrested.
Turducken
This bayou classic allows dogs to get in touch with their southern senses. We all know that Napoleon did us a favor with the Louisiana Purchase at 3 cents an acre but we have to believe that if he could have foreseen the mixed breed that is Cajun cooking coming that even he would have thought twice about his most famous garage sale. The delicious combination of all these flavors cooked together makes even vegetarians reconsider their pledge. It’s time that all of our dog friends had a taste of this Cajun Treat. The Merrick’s would like to toast Napoleon, so finish this entrée off with his dessert’s namesake and thank the French for their charity – strike that, thank our forefathers for absolutely owning them!
Senior Medley
The wise ones of the dog kingdom remember when dog food was a quarter, bones were free, and drinking from water hoses wasn’t taboo. For crying out loud we now have bottled water for dogs, day spas and gourmet pet food, what is the world coming to? So we had the crazy idea to create a favorite medley of flavors that is sure to remind them of yesteryear when they once were Homecoming Queen. Who says growing older means you have to eat bland food, consume massive amounts of fiber, play canasta and do water aerobics? The Merrick family says live life to the fullest, ditch the dentures and use what your parents gave you, these are the golden years!
